Japan 2020: 4.48 Psychosis: A Contemporary Punk Opera

Tomoco Kawaguchi

Kawaguchi, working with British dramaturg and Sarah Kane expert, Dr Nina Kane, brings her radical reinterpretation of this ground-breaking play to The Coronet Theatre for its UK premiere. Based on Kane’s extraordinary work, this experimental punk-rock-opera features a cast of five: a dancer, an opera singer, an actress and two musicians.

Celebrated ground breaking playwright Sarah Kane wrote 4.48 Psychosis in 1999, but died at the age of 28 without ever seeing it performed. Made up of twenty four vivid and raw scenes, it was her last and most fragmented work.
