The Coronet Bar at The Coronet Theatre

Poetry Club: Lavinia Greenlaw + Jay Bernard

Our popular contemporary poetry series, known as Poetry Club, continues in our atmospheric bar.

Lavinia Greenlaw is a highly accomplished poet and author. She will read from The Built Moment (Faber, 2019), her fifth collection of poetry.  It explores what we build out of the provisional: beginnings and endings, arrivals and departures, and the moments we fix as memories.

Jay Bernard’s powerful debut collection of poetry, Surge (Chatto, 2019), is a queer exploration of the black British archive, tracing a line between two significant events in recent British history: the New Cross Massacre of 1981, in which thirteen young black people were killed in a house fire, and the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017.

Stay on for a drink after the readings, where the poets will be signing copies of their books.
