Irene Santori: The Book Of Liquids

Award-winning poet, translator and essayist Irene Santori presents a special reading of her 2021 collection The Book of Liquids. Accompanied by musician Jacopo Dell’Erba, Santori delivers an illuminating performance of her poetry, exploring a series of imagined childhood memories from modern times back to Palaeolithic – a dreamlike diorama of shared experiences through time.

IRENE SANTORI

Irene is an awarded poet, translator and essayist. She manages, on behalf of Nino Aragno Editore (Torino), the Bilingual Series of Poetry Parallela, conceived during a long period of stay in China, as a Resident Poet at Sun Yat Sen University in Guangzhou, in the autumn of 2019. She is the author and host of Radio3-Rai and Swiss Italian radio. In 2002, the crucial meeting with Vasco Bendini, the Italian master of the informal art (Bologna 1922-Rome 2015) began with a deep partnership, culminating in the Presidency of the Vasco Bendini Archive, by which Irene Santori promotes the historical artist’s work at a national and international level. Her poetic texts are translated into English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Chinese (translated by Yang Lian).

JACOPO DELL’ERBA

Jacopo is an musician and vocalist, he holds a degree in Jazz Singing at the E.R. Duni Conservatory in Matera and recently won the Best Vocal Talent scholarship at the Fara Jazz Summer school. His work focuses on composing electro-acoustic music, mixing traditional arrangement techniques (applied to instruments such as harps, clarinet and flutes) with electronic programming. His beats are mostly realized using natural sounds as samples. He collaborates with several poets in performances which mix poetry, music, acting videomaking and visual elements.
