AnyWhichWay was created to provide a platform for recent graduates. Starting with a Classical text the company then used their experience as Citizens in Lockdown to create The Citizens’ Richard III. Rehearsed on zoom in lockdown.

Running with the show is a 10-minute film created on I phones.

When the pandemic hit last year, it hit everyone hard but those who had recently left drama school faced a particular challenge.

Geraldine Alexander wanted to create a platform to help that transition from training to work, that would have normally been filled by auditions, workshops and jobs. It seemed mad to squander all that talent and dedication. Collaborating with recent drama graduate Hannah Dando they started with weekly zoom sessions. Run along rehearsal lines and work in depth on script. Specifically classic texts, as the limitations of social distancing has made monologues and contemporary texts the norm, tackling the great works seems even more crucial especially for young actors who have not had the chance to develop their skills through the normal channels. Geraldine with this company of young inspiring actors is looking at new ways to claim the classics

The goal is to use a classic text in parallel with the casts written reactions to it. So our current project is The Citizens Richard III. Lockdown has caused 2 attempts at performance to be cancelled so rather than wait for lockdown to end, Rosa Crompton made a short film of their work that runs along-side the work for stage.

AnyWhichWay is a company that offers training and opportunity to those who have already risked much just by dedicating themselves to a career in the arts.
The arts are being squeezed in education and we need to find new accessible ways to share the stories from the past and the present. This company will bring their own particular skills and imagination to make sure they reach everyone.
