I Gordi / Teatro Franco Parenti

A delicate parable of life, from youth to old age set entirely in a bedroom.

The remarkable Teatro dei Gordi return to the Coronet with Visite, a touching, humorous performance rooted in traditions of physical theatre, commedia dell’arte and mask theatre, as seen in their hugely successful Sulla Morte Senza Esagerare and Pandora.

Inspired by Philemon and Baucis from Ovid’s Metamorphoses, with its themes of hospitality and sanctuary, Visite takes you into the world of a couple and the community around them.

As the years pass their bedroom remains a constant, where dreams, memories, and visitors blur into one another. The room is witness to relationships forged over a lifetime – through intimate moments, visits from friends, doctors, family – all linked by mutual experiences, both good and bad.

Teatro Dei Gordi use gestures, bodies – with and without masks – sound that transcends linguistic barriers, and the power and expressiveness of their iconic papier-mâché faces to examine the story of a life from first to last days.
